She is a semi-autobiographical character created by Candace Bushnell, who published the book " Sex and the City ", based on her own columns in the "New York Observer". Her weekly column, "Sex and the City", provides the title, storylines, and narration for each episode. The column focuses on Carrie's sexual escapades and those of her close friends, as well as musings about the relationships between men and women, dating, and New York. It provides Carrie with a certain amount of recognition in the city. People who read her column occasionally describe her as their icon. In the third season, her column is optioned for a film starring a fictionalized Matthew McConaughey. In the fifth season, some of her columns are compiled into a book.

While Jim initially came across as a decent enough guy, it was soon revealed that Carrie broke up with him for a good reason — he's awful. Carrie repeatedly warned Miranda he was not a good guy and that they ended on bad terms. However, Miranda tried to convince Carrie that maybe he'd changed and that they should all get together. While the three grabbed drinks, Jim began hurling digs at Carrie, saying she "walked all over him" while they were in a relationship, among other pointed insults. Carrie slept with Kurt Harrington in the first episode of the series to prove that women can "have sex like men" without emotional attachment.
Sex and the City "Berger" was perhaps the worst of "Carrie's" boyfriends. While a witty writer like "Carrie", "Berger" had a lot of faults that we just couldn't fall in love with! However, Ron Livingston, who played "Berger", is quite the opposite of his on-screen character!
